This percentage doe is nearly two years old. We are not familiar with her kidding history.

Evaluation

  • Good length and depth when looked at individually.
  • Hindquarter medium in meat value.
  • Slope of rear-end drops off too dramatically. Reduces available meat and possible indication of kidding problem.
  • Front is not wide
  • Leg bone is medium.
  • Feminine look

Conclusion:

This doe was purchased at a production sale without viewing her earlier. She looks ok if you do not know her age or view her against some of our percentage does. Once she was brought home and placed with the others, it became obvious that she was not the proper size we expected. She is a March, 2000 doe but our March, 2001 percentage does are larger than her. After seeing her compared to our animals, it was determined to sell her immediately and not mess around with having her go through a kidding season and possibly have kids that would not meet our standards.
