June 26, 2010, we had a once in a life time opportunity to purchase
some of the best Boer goats in the industry as the Fern Hollow Farm
had a dispersal of some of the most gorgeous animals I have ever
seen. These were not animals they raised to sell
at a production sale. These were animals they had spent years
breeding and purchasing for their own breeding program.
Fern Hollow Farm went out in class. They had outstanding
pictures of every animal and they were all in tip top shape. We bid
online and saw animals being purchased from all across the US.
You can see the animals they were selling at
www.fernhollowfarm.com/DispersalSale.html We had been looking at their sale catalog and the pictures for two days drooling over them. I finally trimmed my wish list down to ten animals and then prioritized them from one to ten to help decide when to bid. I was amazed when I dropped off the internet at lot #60 out of #200 because I had successfully purchased our number one and number three choices and I knew I had reached my budget's limit but felt very happy for the prices I paid for the quality we were getting. The two does we purchased are shown to the right. FHF All Fired Up was our number one choice we wanted to get. Besides how gorgeous she looks, we wanted the genetics in her pedigree. Her sire is RRD Ruger and the dam is Lazy S-T Red Magnolia. All Fired Up was flushed with Status Quo last year and several of her kids were in the sale. One of her doe kids sold for $4,000+ to a well known breeder. Look at our page about purchasing Reloaded Ammo to see the importance of the Ruger bloodline. Fern Hollow Farm flushed All Fired Up to Status Quo last year and got 10 kids from the flush. The kids were sold in the sale also. We didn't realize that until the sale was over but looking back, I found the pictures of several of them. I don't know how they sold but the kids look very nice. They did not get color with breeding to Status Quo. Two of the kids are shown at the bottom of this page. Lazy S-T Red Magnolia's sire is PDF T513 (Red Racer), the ABGA 2006 National Reserve Grand Champion Buck. His picture is at the bottom on the right. We have told readers over the last year that we had purchased several does out of DCW Bo Jangle. He was the 2006 ABGA National Grand Champion Buck and sired the 2008 ABGA National Grand Champion Doe. The second doe we purchased was FHF Red Ruger's Renesme. Her sire is FHF Red Ruger, a son of Ruger. Red Ruger was first in his class 3-6 months old at the 2008 ABGA National show. Renesme's dam was LAZY S-T RACER’S RED WINE, a daughter of Red Racer. We could not be happier than we are with these two purchases and the top quality genetics we are adding to our breeding program. We don't make a living at being on the show circuit and can't afford to pay the high dollar prices most of the show breeders do. We believe we have purchased some of the best genetics at a very reasonable price that we will be able to offer our customers in the future. |
