• Show Goat Growth at 1998 Williamson County Livestock Show in Texas. The chart to the right shows the dramatic growth and interest in meat goats. The 1998 Williamson County Livestock Show had 502 meat goats tagged for showing by FFA and 4H clubs. That is a 26% growth over the previous year. There was standing room only in the audience as the community came out for the meat goat judging.

While there are some 15 million head of meat goats in the US, there is a need for 40 million. Response to announcement of seminar was so great, they had to turn people away for lack of space.
